Hey ShorkNet folks!
You should be able to opt out of these emails if you don't want them and I'll try not to send them often. Plus I might plug new services I have that you all might be interested in. I've also disabled any tracking and enabled all opt-out features. But to make it a bit easier on me I made a self-hosted newsletter. I plan to use this to let you know of changes happening, outages, etc.

I've added a back-end service that should start matching existing and new media to subtitles. So everything should eventually have English subs available. Might take some time to get it working well. If you find subs that are bad let me know. |

Infrastructure has been really stable recently but I'm going out of town a bunch soon so expect it to shit the bed the second I step onto a plane! I'll try to fix things remotely if I have time otherwise they might have to stay broken. |

Transition to Usenet

I'm considering switching from BitTorrent to Usenet for requests. This might involve some downtime on the requests page. I'll try to give everyone a heads up but it shouldn't affect any streaming — just the requests actually getting downloaded. Hoping to get more reliable downloads of some things y'all have been requesting like anime or reality shows. Those tend to be harder to find automatically with BitTorrent but Usenet keeps much older files. |

Immich
Immich is a self-hosted photo and video library — think Google Photos but on my server instead of Google's. You can back up your phone's camera roll automatically, browse everything by date or on a map, search by what's in your photos (faces, objects, locations), and share albums with others. Your memories stay private and off the cloud.
* While technically your data is on my server, I won't look at it. Nor do I really know where to look for it.

Nextcloud
Nextcloud is a self-hosted productivity suite — file storage and sync (like Dropbox), a calendar, task lists, contacts, and a full office suite for editing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations right in your browser. Everything lives on my server, not Google's or Microsoft's. Great if you want cloud storage and collaboration tools without handing your data to a corporation.

Vaultwarden is a self-hosted password manager — compatible with the Bitwarden apps on every platform (iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, browser extensions). Store all your passwords, credit cards, and secure notes in one place, synced across all your devices. Way better than reusing passwords or trusting a third-party service with your credentials.
