Morning Shorkers!
I'm limiting myself to flooding your inboxes to once a month. This one is arriving a bit early because Ashe and I are off on our honeymoon in a couple of days. So I guess instead of focusing on top notch piracy and newsletter crafting I'll focus on having fun with her.
There are a handful of services that I'll be relying on that I host while I'm away so I'll be able to fix small things if they arise... but let's hope it doesn't come to that.

I added a new category on to Jellyfin for playlists we can share as a community. Some ideas are Desert Island Top 5 movies, or shows — or I might add my "Mid-20s to Early-30s post break up movie cycle." All ideas are welcome! You should be able to add your own without Admin access, steps below: |

| • Load Jellyfin on a browser |
| • Click into Playlists |
| • Click "New Playlist" and name it |
| • Then you can click the three dots on any media and choose "Add to Playlist" |
| If adding a TV series I'd recommend adding just the first episode to keep the playlist tidy. |

Most modern smart TVs use Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) — technology that silently captures snapshots of everything on your screen, whether it's a streaming app, cable, or a game console, and sends that data back to the manufacturer. On top of that, many smart TVs have built-in microphones that are always listening, originally marketed as a voice control feature but also used to capture ambient audio from your home. All of this is used to build a profile of your viewing and listening habits and sell targeted ads. You didn't opt into any of this, but it's all on by default. |

With going out of town a lot in the next few weeks I've resisted making any major changes. I still want to switch the requests back-end to use Usenet instead of torrents or maybe in addition to torrents. But that's a heavy lift that'll be perfect for a rainy fall/winter weekend. |

Ashe has also convinced me to unnecessarily build my own 10Gbe router. Is the network bottle-necked at 2.5Gbe? No. Is this needlessly complicated? Yes. |

Rare or Hard to Download Media?
I might have a solution! I recently acquired a Blu-ray drive that I can use to rip Blu-rays and DVDs. Combine that with Scarecrow Video and we have a pretty good resource for archiving hard to find media. Check out their catalog here: scarecrowvideo.org/library
I'll probably ask you to help with rental fees and turnaround won't be fast as I'll have to rip everything myself. Let me know if you have something you're interested in or that hasn't completed after making a request through the usual channel.
